The Department of Prosthodontics, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, organized a two-day PACE (Partnership with Alumni for Collaborative Excellence) Program for postgraduate students, aimed at enhancing their understanding of occlusion, prosthodontic rehabilitation, and guided implant surgery through interactive learning and clinical demonstration.

The resource person for the program was Dr. Nikita Agarwal, an alumna of the department, who conducted comprehensive sessions focused on both theoretical concepts and practical applications relevant to contemporary prosthodontic practice.

Day 1 of the program was dedicated to the detailed understanding of occlusion and occlusal rehabilitation. Dr. Nikita conducted interactive teaching sessions covering the fundamentals and advanced concepts of occlusion, emphasizing its critical role in the successful rehabilitation of patients. Participants were actively engaged through worksheets, exercises, and discussion-based learning activities. To facilitate better understanding of occlusal anatomy and morphology, large-scale tooth models were utilized for demonstrations and hands-on exercises. The sessions also highlighted the principles and clinical importance of occlusal equilibration in achieving functional and stable prosthodontic outcomes.

Day 2 focused on guided implant surgery and the workflow involved in the fabrication and utilization of surgical guides. Prior to the live surgical procedure, Dr. Nikita explained the complete workflow of surgical guide fabrication, including treatment planning, digital workflow integration, and the clinical advantages of guided implant placement. This was followed by a live patient implant surgery performed using a surgical guide, allowing the postgraduate students to observe the precision, efficiency, and predictability associated with guided implant procedures in real-time clinical practice.

The two-day PACE program provided postgraduate students with valuable academic and clinical exposure through interactive teaching, hands-on learning, and live surgical demonstration. The program reinforced the department’s commitment to fostering collaborative learning with alumni and promoting excellence in advanced prosthodontic education and contemporary clinical practice.
