Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) Jamshedpur
Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) is located at Baridih, Jamshedpur, in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, and is a premier institution for medical education and training. The college was established through a consortium between Tata Steel and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, under the private-private partnership (PPP) model vide the Amendment Gazette Notification No. MCI-34(41)/2019-Med./112859 dated May 14, 2019, issued by the erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI). This consortium represents the first private–private partnership model in medical education in India.
MTMC is the off-campus institute of MAHE, an Institution of Eminence (IoE) deemed to be university. Jharkhand has ten medical colleges (as on date). MAHE, a pioneer in medical education and health care, will provide high-quality medical education and enhance community health care delivery through the establishment of MTMC.
Under this consortium initiative, MAHE Manipal has developed state-of-the-art infrastructure for the medical college at the Ardeshir Dalal Memorial Hospital (ADMH) campus in Baridih, spanning 20 acres. The college offers 200 MBBS seats annually, and Tata Main Hospital (TMH), Jamshedpur, serves as the teaching hospital.
