His academic credentials include a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Karnataka University, Dharwad, and a Ph.D. from MAHE (2009), followed by a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at AIT, Ireland (2011). Dr. Kotegar has authored 75+ publications in internationally indexed journals and conferences. He has successfully guided nine Ph.D. scholars, with several more currently under his mentorship. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Life Member of ISTE.

Dr. Kotegar has contributed significantly to the internationalization of Higher Education. He served as Secretary of IAESTE A.s.b.l., overseeing operations across 87 countries, and as President, IAESTE India. In his professional capacity, he has visited more than 30 countries to support research, administration and the internationalization of Higher Education.

His work has been recognized through several prestigious honors, including the Best Teacher Award (2012), the Invention Award from Intellectual Ventures (2013), and multiple Best Paper/Poster awards. He is also a recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship (USA) and the DAAD Scholarship (Germany).

He also served as a Syndicate Member of Mangalore University, Mangalore (June 2020 – June 2023), nominated by the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, in recognition of his contributions to Higher Education.
