Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences, MAHE, celebrates Gandhi Jayanthi

Manipal, 2nd October 2022: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen Dr. M.D. Venkatesh has advocated "Gandhian World-View and the World" free from all kinds of discrimination based on caste, creed, colour, race, etc., and based on peace, equality, non-violence, and tolerance.
Presiding over the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations organized by the Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences, MAHE, Dr. Venkatesh said Mahatma Gandhi led an exemplary life, and even if we follow a part of his Philosophy, the World would be a better one. His was a very inspirational leadership, which made freedom for the country possible with his exemplary mass movements and Satyagraha.
Speaking as the guest, Prof. Ashok Kumar Sinha from Magadha University stressed the need for Gandhian economics of equitable and sustainable development. His nation of need-based economy, rather than a greed-based economy, needs to be the Philosophical basis, he added.
Connecting Gandhiji with art, another guest Dr. Shobha Kamath said Gandhiji wanted art for a higher purpose in life. Now one can see how he manifests in and inspires various art forms such as films, paintings, literature, theatre, music, and dance. The GCPAS Head, Prof. Varadesh Hiregange, said education needs to be based on the Gandhian Philosophy of 3H, Head, Heart, and Hand. Ecosophy, Aesthetics, and Peace are derived from the 3 H – he mentioned.
