Alumni Engagement Guest Lecture Series – 15/2022

Manipal School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal had organized a guest lecture on the topic “Management of Psychiatric Emergencies” by Mrs. Savitha Shettigar, Senior Nursing Officer, Clinical Nursing Services, NIMHANS, Bengaluru on 13th July 2022 at 10.30 am.

Mrs. Savitha discussed psychiatric disorders and their causes, clinical features, treatment, and nursing management. She enlightened the participants by giving instances with regard to her clinical experience. She also focused that nurses play a pivotal role in the enhancement of the quality of life of patients with psychiatric illnesses by encouraging them to perform exercises, dietary modifications, and counseling therapy. A total of 60 participants attended the session. It was a useful and interactive session where participants could acquire knowledge on Psychiatric emergencies in clinical practice.
