Manipal School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE Manipal, hosted a guest lecture on "Care of the Elderly” on 22nd February 2025, between 10:30 am - 11:30 am. The target audience is First-year GNM students. Ms. Deona Daphney Denis D’Souza, Band 5, Staff Nurse at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, UK (Diploma (N) Batch 2019-2022) was the resource person. She emphasized NHS protocol for geriatric patients, primarily focused on “frailty” identification and management.
Ms. Deona also highlighted the assessment of elderly individuals using the Clinical Frailty Scale, prioritizing early identification and delivering tailored care plans that address the multiple health issues of the elderly.
A total of 60 participants attended the session. This session contributed to achieving SDG 4: Quality Education.
