Guest lecture on interprofessional collaboration - effective communication strategies and conflict resolution
August 26, 2024
On 26th August, 2024, Dr. Toni Bewley, Adjunct Faculty from Edgehill University, UK, deliberated a guest lecture on interprofessional collaboration - effective communication strategies and conflict resolution for the Operation Theatre Nurses. The Department of Fundamentals of Nursing coordinated the session.
Dr Toni explained interprofessional collaboration and how important communication and conflict are for better interprofessional communication related to better patient outcomes. She noted that a nurse can comprehend and manage a situation when a conflict arises. She also emphasized that it is crucial that one-to-one communication is maintained between the nurse and patient or the clinician and the patient. The communication must be collaborative, where the patient is on the receiving end, and the nurse, clinician, or team must discuss and plan the patient's care together.
The session was attributed to Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education.
