Report on Awareness Programme

Breastmilk provides all the energy and nutrients that the infant needs for the first months of life, and it continues to provide up to half or more of a child’s nutritional needs during the second half of the first year, and up to one-third during the second year of life. Health Education Committee of SNA 2023-2024 of Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal conducted an awareness programme on breastfeeding and newborn care on August 4, 2023, in Women and Child Block, Kasurba Hospital, Manipal. Mr Pradeep and Ms Vina, representatives of the committee from II PBBSc (N) and III year BSc (N) spoke on the importance of breastfeeding, and care of the newborn baby at home and Ms Lisa Aslin, Chairperson of the committee spoke on the immunization schedule. A total of 23 participants actively participated in the session and gave good feedback. The programme was coordinated by the committee advisor Mrs Shobha, Lecturer, Department of OBG Nursing and co-advisor, Mrs Rishmitha, Lecturer, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing. The programme contributed to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
