Guest lecture on “Ethics, Morals, Policy, and the Law.”

Dr. Toni Bewley, a senior teaching fellow at Edgehill University, UK, and an adjunct faculty of Manipal College of Nursing, shared her experiences on “Ethics, Morals, Policy, and the Law” on January 16, 2024, at 11:30 AM for I and II PPBSc Nursing and II MSc Nursing in the GFATM classroom.
Dr. Toni discussed moral rules and regulations. Morals are ruled by culture. She explained the case scenario from the UK in terms of ethics. The principles involved in the research were highlighted and elaborated on: consent, patient safety, risk vs. benefit, protection of the vulnerable, disclosure of information, privacy, and confidentiality. She explained beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and integrity with examples. The session began at 11.30 with a brief introduction and ended at 12.30 with doubts cleared. A total of 63 students from first-year PBBSc, second-year PBBSc Nursing, first-year MSc, and II-year MSc Nursing benefitted from this session.
