Report on World Glaucoma Day
World Glaucoma Day 2020 is observed on 9th March 2020 by Dept. of Ophthalmology, KMC & Kasturba Hospital, MAHE Manipal in association with Manipal School of Nursing. Dr. Narayan Sabhahit, Registrar, MAHE Manipal, was the chief guest for the program and welcome address was given by Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. The chief guest emphasized the importance of screening tests after 40 years, which may help in the early diagnosis of non-communicable diseases. Dr. Neetha, KIR, Asst. Professor Kasturba Hospital gave an overview of World Glaucoma Week. Glaucoma is asymptomatic, and it will cause irreversible damage to the eye and eventually cause blindness. Dr. Sulatha Bhandary, Prof. and HoD, Dept. of Opthalmology proposed vote of thanks. Students of Manipal School of Nursing played street play on awareness of Glaucoma. Screening for Glaucoma was arranged in the entrance of Smt Sharada Madhav Pai OPD block, KH, Manipal.
