Effective Alumni Engagement Guest Lecture Series 09/2025

Manipal School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE Manipal, hosted a guest lecture on "post-traumatic stress disorder” on 10th November 2025, between 10:00 am and 11:00 am. The target audience were III year GNM students. Mr. Gilbert D Souza (Diploma (N) Batch 1981-1984), Nurse Practitioner at Veterans Administration Hospital, United States, was the resource person. He emphasized that the understanding of PTSD is essential to provide holistic, trauma- informed care to patients in a variety of health care settings.
Mr. Gilbert also highlighted that the nurses play a vital role in early detection, patient education, and the coordination of evidence-based treatment by integrating trauma-informed and compassionate care. He also stressed that the nurses can empower the patients to achieve recovery and improve the quality of life.
A total of 47 participants attended the session. This session contributed to achieving SDG 4: Quality Education.
