Guest Lecture on “Effective Communication with Older Adults”
Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal organized a Guest Lecture on “Effective Communication with Older Adults” on November 26, 2020 between 3.00 pm & 4.00 pm to 3rd year BSc and 2nd year PBBSc Nursing students through Microsoft Teams Platform. Lt. Rita Thomas, Retired Nursing Superintendent KMC Jyothi Circle, Mangaluru, spoke on the topic. She emphasized on the importance of active listening, patience, reassurance, and calm attitude while communicating with the elderly. A total of 125 participants including 3rd year BSc, 2nd year PBBSc (N) students and faculty members of the college participated in the session.
Ms Janet Alva, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, MCON welcomed the participants and Mr. Anil Raj, Lecturer, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, MCON expressed gratitude to Lt. Rita Thomas for accepting the invite and sharing her expertise on the subject with our students. The interesting, inspiring, and elaborate session got over by 4.00 pm.
