Beach cleaning event as part of “clean India” program
As part of the “clean India” program, the health and social welfare committee of Student Nurses' Association, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, organized a beach cleaning drive at Malpe beach on 31st October 2021 from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
Thirty students from various batches of undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programs from the college participated in the cleaning drive. Around 17 bags of waste were collected, mainly the single-use plastic waste from the seashore of Malpe beach. The collected waste was disposed of appropriately.
Ms Deeksha, the chairperson and Ms Sona Sabu, the secretary of the Health and Social Welfare Committee, Student Nurses' Association, coordinated the program under the guidance of Mrs Prima J J D'Souza, Assistant Professor and Faculty advisor and Mrs Shalini G Nayak, Assistant Professor, Manipal College of Nursing.
This activity was conducted as per the Circular received from the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Department of Youth Affairs, New Delhi, dated October 8, 2021.
