Awareness Program on Bleeding Disorders

The Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, in collaboration with the Hemophilia Society Manipal Chapter, Kasturba Hospital Manipal, organized an academia-industry collaborative awareness programme on "Bleeding Disorders" for adolescent girls at Government Pre-University College, Bailur, on July 21, 2025.
The formal programme commenced at 9:30 AM with a welcome address by Mrs. Josna, the teacher at the Government PU College. This was followed by an introduction of the resource team by Mr. Nagaraj, Vice Principal of the college. Mrs. Geena Louis D’Souza, Lecturer in the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, then provided a brief introduction to the topic.
Dr. Sulochana B, Associate Professor in the same department, led the main educational session. Her presentation comprehensively covered topics including the the normal physiology of bleeding and clotting (hemostasis), causes of abnormal bleeding, key differences between normal and abnormal bleeding, and detailed signs and symptoms of bleeding disorders.
The program successfully educated 200 adolescent girls and made a significant contribution toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
