Guest lecture on patient stories and the importance of reflection in and on learning
August 29, 2024
On 29th August 2024, Dr. Toni Bewley, Adjunct Faculty from Edgehill University, UK, gave a guest lecture on patient stories and the importance of reflection in and on learning to fifth-semester BSc nursing students. The Department of Fundamentals of Nursing and Pillar 3: Expanding Reach and Internationalization coordinated the session.
Dr Toni explained that listening is an essential tool in nursing. Listening to the patient's stories or experiences allows us to understand what they are going through while in the hospital. This gives healthcare workers a chance to reflect on their actions and impact on the patient. A total of 57 students benefitted from the session. The session was attributed to Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education.
